When employees are on official leave, you'd likely like them to have access to their employee handbook. No matter what kind of leave they're on, there's likely pertinent information for them in the handbook.
However, you don't want to be requesting employees who are on leave to do any official work because it puts you at risk of claims that they should be paid, or that their leave didn't actually start because they were still working, etc.
You have a couple of options here.
1) Push back their signature due date
In your reporting center, you can open the details for any employee to get more information about their signature status and more. If they still haven't signed your handbook (or whatever document you're working with), you'll see something that looks like the following:
You can click the blue "21 days" link and can customize a new due date for that person. It'll look like this:
You can even add a note so there's an audit trail.
If someone's going to be out for 6 months, you can add that time do the due date, and assuming you've set your signature reminders up based on your due dates, the employee won't get any reminders to sign until they're back.
However! If they happen to be looking at the handbook on their own volition, and they feel like signing it, they are still able to, because technically they are still a part of the signature round.
More information is in section 3 of our signature due dates help article.
2) Remove them from the signature round
If you have many employees changing their leave status on a regular basis, the above manual process may be too burdensome.
If this is the case, you would send us "On Leave" as a group when you sync your employee file with us, and then you'd want to set up your signature round to exclude anyone in this "On Leave" group.
Employees will remain in the audience for the document so they can view it, but will not be prompted or able to sign it until they come back across on your file feed without the "On Leave" group.
Note: There are some situations with this setup that Blissbook does not yet handle gracefully. This may result in an On Leave employee who comes back being wayyy past due to sign, and employees may not receive invitations or reminders to sign as you expect it to. This is an area we are working on and hope to improve in the future. If you have any questions, contact our support team at support@blissbook.com.
